Ribeira Seca & Reserva Florestal da Silveira
With its houses scattered in a hilly landscape, this tiny village is only worthwhile a short halt for its – even if in need of renovation – astonishing Casa do Gaspar Silva. This private mansion in the neo-classical French colonial style with a richly adorned wood-carved fronton and a façade covered with azulejos is the only one of the kind in the whole archipelago. A route climbing up behind the village leads up to the Reserva Florestal da Silveira, a forest reserve with a nice picnic area, which invites for a relaxing day out surrounded by beautiful nature and tranquillity.
