Public Library & Archives of Ponta Delgada

Next to the church, in the former Jesuit College - which after the Jesuits’ expulsion became the Convento dos Gracianos and underwent several alterations and uses throughout its history – the Public Library and Archives of Ponta Delgada is installed since 1841. Because of its volume and variety, this Public Library & Archives is considered to be one of the most important collections in the whole of Portugal.
